Hello everyone, hope you had an amazing time these holidays.
Today I’m want to share with you an art journal page I created recently. I recently received my very first order of Lindy’s magicals and since some of the colors matched nicely with the December color challenge I had to make a page with them.
The inspiration for the “theme” of the page case from the More than Words challenge blog. Their challenge this month is all about traditions which really got me thinking. I didn’t want to focus on something seasonal, I wanted to go back and find something deep that runs in the family for a long time now.
I’ll be honest, it took me a while to figure out what I want to create. At some point I started looking at random older photos and then it hit me. During my whole childhood my grandma would make handmade costumes for me every year. Looking at those old photos I realized that the other kids always had store bought costumes. I never really understood how special mine were.
So I wanted to incorporate that by adding some sewing elements on my page. I went for a vintage looking background with some of my favorite floral designs and then I picked some buttons and pins to use as embellishments.
The second part of the MTW challenge was to use something handmade. So I found a piece of stretchy tulle and some wire and I created a handmade butterfly. My butterfly actually has extra meaning cause one of my most favorite costumes was when I was dressed as a butterfly.
The colors of this page were inspired by Lindy’s Stamp Gang December 2016 Color Challenge. The Lindy’s products that were used on this page are: Autumn Leaves- MAGICAL Shimmer Powders (Ponderosa Pines Olive & Autumn Maple Crimson), Drink Me Silly- MAGICAL Shimmer Powders (My Mojito Green) and Sidewalk Chalk.
