Hello artsy friends, today I want to share with you another art journaling page I created inspired by the Lindy’s Stamp Gang Color Challenge for this month.
I absolutely adored the bright colors of this month’s color challenge. I also really loved the way these colors looked arranged in these vertical rainbow stripes so I decided to create something similar on my page. Since the colors were so bright and saturated, I only used them to create a pattern on the background and kept all the other elements I used white. The Lindy’s products I used were Mango Mania, Hibiscus Rose, Curiouser Chartreuse, Yellow Rose of Texas and Time Travel Teal.
I wanted to create a page very rich in texture. Instead of applying the inks right on the page, I mixed them in some heavy gloss gel medium and applied it through a Tim Holtz stencil. I really love the look you get with this technique, you can turn any ink and spray into a dimensional paste and still keep the colors true and vibrant.
Once that first layer was dry, I took a bit of each ink, diluted it with water and painted a light wash on top of each color. I wanted to add some tint to the gaps to get rid of the white of the page.
Then I started adding different elements on the page. I used a few leftover pieces I cut with my Silhouette (some of them are from Creative Retreat and some from The Cut Shoppe). Since I didn’t have many pieces, I decided to add some more flowers using some modeling paste and a stencil.
To bring some more texture I used again the tile stencil and added small bits of modeling paste on top of the colorful layer. Lastly, I added some white ink and let it drip to balance the white areas on the page.
So that’s my spread for Lindy’s Stamp Gang August 2016 color challenge. I hope you like it and you got inspired to create something bright and colorful.
