Hello scrappy friends! It’s Saturday again and I have another layout for you that will hopefully give you some inspiration and get your creative juices flowing.
This layout is the very first I created using gelatos. Yes! I finally own some of these beauties and I couldn’t be more excited. You are gonna be seeing them a lot from now on. (By the way you can totally make use of my 10% off discount code “ZINIA10” and get yourself started with some gelatos from The Ink Road shop).
So, I started by prepping my page with a thin layer of gesso. If you are wondering if that’s really necessary well it depends on your paper I guess. When I tried this without priming my surface I couldn’t make the colors blend and move around so experiment with what you have and if it doesn’t work, a think layer of gesso will always get you there. After I scribbled some lines with the gelatos I went in with a wet brush and blended the colors.
I chose a bright color combination cause it was matching beautifully with the photo I wanted to scrap.
To add some more interest on my background, I added some texture paste using a stencil from the Amy Tangerine Rise & Shine collection. The texture paste I used here was once again the one I created myself. If you missed the recipe I shared on some of my previous posts here it is again.
- 1/4 part white glue
- 1/4 part white (or any color) acrylic paint
- 1 part baby powder
For the embellishing part I wasn’t quiet sure what I wanted to do. I started by mounting my photo on a few layers of paper and decided to go with the “Hello Gorgeous” collection by My Mind’s Eye. The color scheme of the collection feels like a slightly muted version of the colors I used on my background so they worked nice together.
I ended up using the big floral chipboard piece as a main element and on top of it I added my title which was a banner from the wood veneer pieces that are part of the collection.
To finish the layout, I added some smaller chipboard pieces and some of the enamel shapes following the colors on the background. I did play around with different ideas before I ended with this as you can see in the process video but in the end I was so happy with the result.
I really hope you loved this layout and you got some inspiration to get crafty this weekend! All the products used here can be found at theinkroad.com, for your convenience I also include individual links to the products bellow (not affiliate).
