Hello again friends and welcome to another Scrappy Saturday layout share! Today I’ll share another layout I created for theinkroad.com.
This one is pretty special to me. I started working on it planning to send it to my dad for his birthday. During the process there were points that I was feeling it’s turning into a masterpiece and then point that I felt I completely ruined it. I guess in the end, I’m happy with the result so it’s all good.
My idea was to combine the Crate Paper “Hello Love” collection with some papers from the Studio Calico “Goldie” to create something a bit more masculine. For my base I used a big triangle piece from one of the “Goldie” papers and slightly distressed the edge.
Then I started layering some paper pieces behind my photo. I used some bits from 12×12 sheets and also some bits from the card pack (most of the patters are included in the journaling card pack too so in the product list I will put both options).
I started going through the “Hello Love” ephemera pack to grab pieces that would work, I ended up picking a couple of tags and banners. I also grabbed a banner from the “On Trend 2” ephemera pack to add an extra pop of that pink.
Since a few of the ephemera pieces were gold foiled I started bringing up a few more gold details. I used some puffy stickers from the Pink Paislee “Memorandum” collection and also added some messy gold thread under my clusters.
I really love the look of thread on paper projects, it’s that fine detail that makes a project look really special.
For my embellishing, I also used a few stickers from the “Hello Love” 6×12 sheet. I love how the heart patterns from both collections match. I added some of the pink outlined heart stickers on top of the heart doodle pattern paper and it looked perfect.
For my finishing touches, I added some big ink splatters and a few white details with a gel pen. I actually felt that I added too many splatters so I covered one with a sticker as you can see in the process video.
As I said in the end I was really happy with the result. I don’t usually work around this color scheme so it was really fun to play with something different.
