Hello crafty friends, I hope you are all doing great!
Today I want to share with you a layout I created for The Ink Road shop and it’s one of my most favorite to date! So with no further ado let me show you what I’m talking about.
By the way let me remind you that you can use the code “ZINIA10” at theinkroad.com to get 10% discount for any purchase!
I started with a pattern paper from an old Heidi Swapp memory planner release. I really love this shade of blue and the messy lines on that pattern. I added a thin layer of gesso in the middle of the page, right where I was planning to put my photo and embellishments. I’m not going to use mixed media on the background but I wanted to make that area fade a bit so my elements will pop up.
My main design element is going to be a floral cut file by The Cut Shoppe called “The flower Power”. I re-sized it a bit smaller, cut it out of white cardstock and backed it with a bunch of pattern paper scraps. Most of the patterns I used are from the Amy Tangerine “Rise and Shine” collection and the Dear Lizzy “Fine and Dandy” (plus a couple additions from the Dear Lizzy “Polka Dot Party” which is an older collection).
Then I started playing around with the embellishments. I really liked the Crate Paper “Hello Love” crepe paper embellishments and also I fell in love with the way the black doodle stickers from the same collection complimented the whole design.
That extra pop of black really made a huge difference ant took the layout to the next level.
The other special thing I added were some DIY paper beads. To create them simply cut some long isosceles triangles out of your paper scraps and then roll them starting from the base. Then just add some adhesive at the top of the triangle so when you roll it, it gets stuck to the bead and is ready to use.
To make these I used some of the Studio Calico “Goldie” journaling cards. The blues and pinks were matching perfectly with my color palette plus that collection had that extra pop of black that I was trying to incorporate.
To finish it off I just added some big black ink splatters and a little bit of journaling. Since I didn’t want to take the attention away from the floral die-cut and the embellishments I didn’t add a big title. Instead just I used the word “I love you” from the crepe paper embellishment as my title.
I really hope you enjoyed this layout and got inspired to create something. Again don’t forget that you can use the code “ZINIA10“ to get 10% discount in your orders at theinkroad.com.
Until next time, happy crafting!
