I’m generally a person that loves mixing different things together. So it’s no surprise when I do that in my crafts and scrapbooking. A few days ago, I received the most amazing package of scrapbooking goodies (honestly the amount of things in the package was bigger than my current stash, especially the papers) and I was so overwhelmed by everything that I didn’t know which collection to use first.
So just like that, I started picking different bits of everything and ended up using five different collections on this layout.
I picked a few embellishments that were matching the color scheme I was going for and I just started layering strips of paper. I didn’t really have something specific in mind, I just improvised as I was going. I really wanted to use the acetate piece from the Studio Calico Goldie collection but I struggled to decide what I want to do with it. I’m not often using acetate on my layouts so I couldn’t come up with something very special.
So now that you see the final result, I have a confession to make. It really bothers me so much that the black ink got smudged into the pink splatter. Every time I look at this layout, my eye instantly focuses right on that spot. I tried a few embellishments to cover it but nothing really worked. I considered dropping another black ink splatter on top of it but I’m scared I’ll mess things more. So I decided that I’ll just leave it like that. It’s a reminder that things don’t always go as planned but one imperfection doesn’t ruin the whole creation.
At the bottom of this blog post you can find all the products I used to create this page. The only one I couldn’t find to link is the pink floral paper which came in a Heidi Swapp paper pad.
I really love the unique result you can get by mixing small bits of different collections. It’s like creating a mini kit that looks completely different from all the individual collections. As I mentioned before I’m all about mixing different things together so I’m always very excited to work with a bunch of different collections at the same time.
