Hello everyone! I’m back with another fun and colorful card design!
As you may already know from my last post CARDMAKING ADVENTURES & CLASS REVIEWS I’m diving into the world of cardmaking and I’m getting more and more excited to share more of my card creations with you.
Today I created a card following a fun challenge. My objective was to create a teen themed card, so the first thing that popped into my head was to create something very stylish and graphic. I remembered a really fun lesson from the For the Guys class I took a few weeks ago in the Altenew Academy so I instantly started thinking about geometric shapes.
To make things more interesting I decided to bring in an in-laid die-cutting technique I saw in the Easy Die Cutting Techniques class. I chose to work with circles but since I didn’t like the colors of the colored cardstock I had available I decided to color my own cardstock with a technique I learned from the Easy Ink Blending Techniques class.
I know I’m mentioning too many classes but all of them are really great! I have a more detailed review of all these classes in this blog post if you are curious.
Anyway at this point I decided I really wanted to use bright pops of pink and orange. That obviously doesn’t fit with my initial teenage guy plan so I changed my mind and decided to address my card to a teenage girl.
Since my design is relatively simple, I decided to add an extra kick to the card with some shine. There are all sorts of amazing ideas in the Let it Shine class from the Altenew Academy and I ended up using a few of them to add some shimmery finish to my circles. I tried to create some more interest by leaving some imperfections to add texture to the circles so that the card doesn’t look flat and dull.
I used a motivational sentiment with a bold font which worked perfectly on this design.
