Hello artsy friends! I’m sure it’s pretty clear already that I’m really in love with art journaling. It’s one of my favorite things to do when I get in my crafty space. So after watching a lot of wonderful mixed media artists, I felt really inspired to try and work on a mixed media canvas.
I grabbed some lovely supplies from scrapbooking.gr and got started. I decided to work on a “rainbow” background so I pulled a few mists from my stash and started laying some colors down.
I wanted to make my canvas really rich in texture so I made a mix of gel medium, glitter and tiny beads to use at the bottom of the design. I also reinforced it with some modeling paste on some areas.
I used a big “xo xo” chipboard piece as a focal element and embellished it with a bunch of lovely Prima flowers in different shapes and sizes. I used light colors of flowers so it would be easier to color them with my mists later on.
I colored the flowers using the same mist colors I got on my background. I also sprayed a few times on different areas to help everything come together.
Last thing I did was to use some white ink to add some splatters and highlights.
